My sister-in-law teaches at Breathitt and from what she has told me I could easily see PV starting the season 1-2 again with what Phil reffers to as the most talented team since 98 that was what 12-2 13-1.
You may find it to be bull, but the fact remains.

Breathitt lost last night 35-15, but to a powerhouse (so I'm told).
Pv Fan that was a great analysis of last nights game.. Still we should not forget at halftime the score was only 10-7 in favor of seymour. And that was only because of the late fumble that gave the eagles great field positon.
I would like to point out that #17 for seymour did not take a snap until the second half and it was until then that seymour was able to move the football with effectiveness.
I think this was very poor scouting by the defensive coordinatior, seymour did the exact same thing to cocke county the week before.
Over all Pv should look to run the I-formation more often espically the option. Utilizing the stable of backs and Mitchell's amazing ability to cut and juke in the open field.
We all should never forget " The run has always set up the pass... Always has always will."
Friday night was a learning experience and the vikings will be a better team because of it, the better opponent you play the better you will become.
Win with humility, loose with dignity.... the tropheys will come and you'll always be remembered as a champion.
The 98 team was Julius's senior year and was 14-0.
"Call me crazy, but I want to buy the Dallas Cowboys end zone and have the star right at the foot of my bed. That way when I score, I can spike the ball right on the star!" -Woody Paige, Around the Horn 10.9.08
PV's biggest problem is that they don't have a Barry type figure now, so Phil has no one to keep him in check. The combination of the two coaches is what made PV great. Hopefully this is a wake up call and they will actually run an honest offense instead of just trying to throw out of the shotgun all the time.

Doesn't sound so much like poor scouting more than poor halftime adjustments. Sounds like PV didn't adjust Phil just told his boys they needed to do better that his gameplan was perfect and they needed to execute it. Seymour saw that they had other weapons and what they were doing wasn't working so the coaches changed their gameplan and was willing to take the blame for it if it worked or didn't work.

It is what it one wanted it to be. A one man show. And that one man has cost a team at least 2 state titles.
Some may get mad. But that is the facts. They had the talent. Just not a person to say we need to do this.
Some at PV will not object even if someone else is wrong. It's written and it is the word.
I don't happen to think the Barry Jones comment is bull. Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. PV's loss to Manassas Park proves that point. I think there would have been a different outcome in that game had Jones still been on PV's sideline.

this post is toward no one, just an observation.
In another post people say that the LPD is laughed at now. We are not he district we use to be when it comes to plalying ball. It was said that the LPD didn't change and evolve with the times like the eastern part of the state has.
then we have comments about being who you are and staying true to what "got you there" back in the 80's and 90's.
I just fine it interesting all the different opinions about LPD football. I think the truth is that if the LPD schools played the same size schools out of the Region (like it use to be set up) the LPD would still be very dominate over schools of our size. Instead we are expected to compete with schools double our size when we get out of the region and that puts our schools at a disadvantage
